At the Calgary Expo 2022 there was a Brendan Fraser panel at the Main Stage where he went over his career. It was mostly focused on a Q&A style presentation, with him mentioning right off the bat that he was grateful to be there.
He noted that George of the Jungle was great fun, worked with monkeys but can’t recommend doing so. He loved the job, got to smash into stuff which at times didn’t feel the best. His favorite role was when he played Rick O’Connell in The Mummy. He likes to drink Early Grey Tea to keep grounded alongside practicing archery.
Talking about Monkey Bone, on paper it was the most expensive art house movie ever produced. It was because Titanic was such a massive hit for Fox at the time. He likes doing Doom Patrol, with the sex ghosts setup being straight up weird but alas that was just the beginning of the weird in that show. There’s going to be a musical episode in season 4 of Doom Patrol.
Michael Cane is the funniest person he’s worked with. Finally, when filming The Mummy originally he had no idea what it was. At times it was horror, other times action and then also a slapstick feature. Just was never sure and went with it. An aside, this was probably the most popular panel I attended which is neat. That about sums everything up, we have additional panel and other coverage from the show in our hub.
