Calgary Expo 2022 Dominic Monaghan Panel

At the Calgary Expo 2022 there was a Dominic Monaghan panel at the Main Stage where he went over his career. It was mostly focused on a Q&A style presentation, where we got to hear about Merry from the Lord of the Rings and his podcast, The Friendship Onion. There were many plugs of that, which makes sense, need to get the word out you know.

To start he mentions enjoying Grand Theft Auto with him and Billie really being into League of Legends. He mentions he might be doing a voice for one of the future characters of the game and he mains as Lux. He had a lot of fun playing the bad guy in Call of Duty Vanguard. He plays Jannick Richter, a guy that thinks he’s on the right side of history. It’s trickier to do that sort of role and to provide that perspective.

He then describes an upcoming TV show called Moonhaven. It’s an AMC Show that tells the story of this community on the moon. It’s a safe place where crime is never committed, an utopia. A crime then quickly occurs and he plays a detective trying to solve the case. His character has never done this sort of thing before, and has to figure out what to do to get the job done.
An Apple Bubly was brought to stage for review. He then went on about apples being an underrated fruit. Anyways, he gave it an 8.2 for flavor, 7 for aesthetics and finally 8 for usefulness. There was then a chat about the Lord of the Ring videogames. It went over an old behind the scenes video called “Hobbits on Gaming”. He said Billie was awful and one of the worst players of all time.

He was asked if Billie was still awful, and he says he’s improved for a two to a six. He is yay to bidet. One of his favorite moments in Lord of the Rings was when Pippin finds Merry on the battleground and it felt like a closing story for them at that point. There were mentions of Manchester United throughout, a lot. That about sums everything up, we have additional panel and other coverage from the show in our hub.
