At the Calgary Expo 2022 there was a Michael Rooker panel at the Main Stage where he went over his career. It was mostly focused on a Q&A style presentation, though I will say it was probably the best showcase I’ve seen at these type of events.
He literally was having fun with every comment and took it upon himself to run out into the crowd to answer every single question that popped up in the lines. It was truly impressive and beyond the expectations for these panels. From the start the man practically danced onto stage with some audio rifting on. He was holding his White Hat which is a gift handed out by the City of Calgary to special honorees.
Now I’ll go over some of his responses to questions and keep in mind many were brief as he was playing everything up to a very fun degree which was ever so entertaining. His favorite role is that he has no favorite role. He gets a script, read it and then performs it. Eventually the movie releases and he gets paid.
He does come across roles that isn’t sure how he got into it but wants to get out, that aside the reasons he performs in some roles are money, money, money and sometimes location like those in real estate. He rarely is interested in meeting the director and mostly wants to see the accountant. But in all seriousness enjoys working with many people that he’s come across over the years.
During the Guardians of the Galaxy films his favorite aspect was the craft services which were apparently fantastic. He also made some good friends, some of which are still pals all these years later. His favorite color is turquoise though many keep asking if it’s straight up blue.
He was also disappointed by the lack of a water bottle on the stage, the staff swiftly made one available which I don’t believe he ended up noticing. I found that entertaining, guests should always have water available on the stage.
He did note he’s heard the ending for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is being shot and that it’s going well. Slither was the longest make-up setup he had. To continue with Marvel he won’t be present in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. He was disappointed to be killed off in Guardians of the Galaxy and always wanted to be Silver Surfer.
From there he essentially answered every question using a frenzy replying system which was fantastic to see going on in action. I was thoroughly impressed by his dedication and effectiveness in cutting through the crowd. That about sums everything up, we have additional panel and other coverage from the show in our hub.
