Calgary Expo 2022 Nolan North Panel

At the Calgary Expo 2022 there was a Nolan North panel at the BMO Center palomino where he went over his career. It was mostly focused on a Q&A style presentation, with lots of questions and some good answers along the way.

He starts by going over his journey to flying for the Uncharted movie. It was rather hardcore due to covid restrictions, but luckily a fan of Pretty Little Liars was able to help him out at one point. He did mention very specifically that he thought the Uncharted audio book was better than the Uncharted movie. He mentioned joking about it, but did confirm it is better.

Call of Duty zombies was quite a lot of fun to film, perhaps too much so as they only got one session as a group and after that had to be split up due to laughing too much while in a group. In Saints Row 4 he enjoyed being the President, he had to go to a dark place to get ready for the role. Punching his grandmother while his mother held her down.

He laughs, you’d think it would be easy but it’s not easy for him to just be himself. With that, he mentions fans bringing odd Saints Row items for him to sign at conventions. He didn’t help Tom Holland with the Uncharted movie as the guy had just played the games. Mentioned him being professional and joking about a love for him.

This then moved forward to chatting about how early game audio was just saying “Grenade!” whereas now it’s much more dynamic. With Uncharted actually being very collaborative. When it comes to the adventure genre he quite likes Raiders of the Lost Ark and those National Treasure movies are fun.

Another topic that came up was in regards to Cayde-6. There was a chat about the character and that he wouldn’t reprise the role. It’s a role for Nathan Fillion, he was afraid of filling in and at the same time wasn’t happy about the character being killed off. He went further to mentioning that you never want to come across as poaching another actor’s role.

He wouldn’t do that character again, unless Nathan didn’t want to and even then, it wouldn’t feel right to him. He respectfully wouldn’t want to do the role. He goes on to how while it’s great that as a voice actor he can do a role forever, but what’s neat about Uncharted is that Nathan Drake did age. The future Uncharted 7 would be subtitled: Search for the Soup.

He does really want to see a Deadpool 2 game be made and that apparently chats with Marvel have gone over that they’d need a studio to work on it. If it does get a go ahead he wants to have Ryan Reynolds be a quick voice line that he calls in the game.
