Calgary Expo 2024 Gina Carano Panel

At the Calgary Expo 2024 there was a Gina Carano panel at the BMO Center main stage where she went over her career. It was mostly focused on an interview style with a somewhat annoying interviewer in my opinion and then some Q&A done afterwards.

She started off by mentioning that Calgary is pleasant and classy which was nice to hear. A good chunk of the chat was about her fighting career and that the best competitor is yourself, trying to beat yourself. Acting in itself being difficult, not coming as naturally as fighting did. She wasn’t into Star Wars, didn’t even know what it was until Jon Favreau brought her in to talk about the project of The Mandalorian. Gina thought she was going to be a furry creature, head to toe like a wookie.

A lot of the questions and chatter were general inquiries into her interest in things such as DC heroes or general pop culture. She really didn’t seem to have much knowledge in those areas making the replies come across as relatively awkward.

We did get to hear about how she loves horses and that she enjoys the quaint ranch life. She wants to find more roles that speak to her, and ultimately wants to direct. She does most of her own fight scenes, but didn’t do falling down stairs. That about sums everything up, we have additional panel and other coverage from the show in our hub.
