The Gears 5 multiplayer experience will grow and change over time. Part of how you compete comes down to the playlist game mode options that are present in multiplayer. These will get swapped or adjusted over time with hopper playlists.
The hoppers are temporary game types that can be played during certain times. Those are listed in a special area below as opposed to be placed within the regular roster of ways to play the game.
The Gears 5 Multiplayer Modes List
Bootcamp
-A place to practice your skills, a training mode for new players.
Arcade
-A new approachable mode featuring weapon changes based on kills in a Deathmatch situation.
Arms Race
-Kill the enemy with every gun. Every three kills changes your team’s weapon. The team to get three kills with the last weapon will win.
Dodgeball
-Eliminate the opposing team to win. Every kill brings back a dead teammate.
Escalation
-The eSports focused option has teams battling for rings, placing weapons and competing for that objective.
Execution
-Eliminate all members of the opposing team using executions You get one life per round.
Guardian
-Execute the enemy team leader to prevent respawns, then eliminate the opposing team to win.
King of the Hill
-Compete for the ring hill that moves throughout the map over time, a classic mode.
Team Deathmatch
-Eliminate all members of the opposing team. Each team has limited respawns where dead players will spawn together every fifteen seconds.
Warzone
-Eliminate all members of the opposing team. You get one life per round. You cannot self-revive from DBNO.
Tour of Duty
-A multi-tiered challenge with more details to come.
