Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the latest entry in this Tom Clancy cooperative shooter. It’s the next continuation in the portion of the series that has opened up the experience for an open world situation. I was able to check out the game for a demo during my time at the Xbox Showcase event.

It was tucked away and still rather popular, I actually got into just the last session before the press time had concluded. We were set in a squad four, one of our members was a tour guide though everyone else was press.

It was fairly easy going at the start, we had an objective though weren’t pushed to do anything. I ended up straying from the group with another individual and we tackled some patrolling squads on a hill. It was a fairly large scale world, vast in draw distance and impressive for its loading. It looked detailed, and full of opportunities in regards to how you could tackle situations.

I ended up stealing a vehicle to drive over people, and eventually were sent back to the main goal. Time was running out at the showcase and we needed a tease of what the actual set story segments were like. This had us approaching a luxury compound of sorts to blast away guards, and take on heavy class drones. I went on a nearby mounted machine gun truck to tear down enemies whereas the team helped? from the side. We didn’t last very long sadly, but I did take out a number of troops. It was really the droned heavy walkers that dealt damage and we were in a rush.

That aside, it’s looking good and should feel similar to the previous entry. I personally liked the more linear style releases in the franchise, but this is obviously popular and a neat new direction for the franchise. That’s good, it’s a nice tactical game that I’m glad is finally getting the big focus it deserves. That’s all for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, at least for now.
