Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist is the first DLC in the post-launch content that's part of the "The City That Never Sleeps" story line. This particular first release follows Spider-Man as he investigates an art theft and ends up being mixed in with Black Cat once again. The two definitely have a history here and it's a lot of fun to watch them interact with one another. Mary Jane also makes an appearance while being a part of the investigation over chat for the most part. Three new suits are available to unlock with this pack as well.

I thought the core of this experience, that being the story of Black Cat interacting with Spider-Man was the strong point. There introduced some new mini games to take part in if that's your sort of thing and they waste no time introducing those elements. There were also strange mini-gun type enemies that were a bit overpowered and at times they stacked this DLC with hardcore tight wave battles. That was a bit disappointing as there's so much potential for these two and there was too much scrapping in comparison to having a balance with the narrative.

The Conclusion

Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist is a solid start to this post-launch content, yet I still would have liked to see more of a focus between the two characters. The entire narrative is based around the relationship these two have, yet it's a very confined and short story that spends most of its time having your brawl waves of enemies. There's certainly more to do here with the extra mini-games that were creative, but those are just additional work for a particular type of player. This definitely feels like the main game, but it could have been much more as there's a good chemistry between the two leads.

It was great to explore the city again, but I'm not sure they took advantage of the large sandbox in this release. I definitely thought this was a fine continuation of the game, but at the same time I was disappointed as Black Cat has the potential to be such an interesting contrast to Spider-Man. She's also a very good competition to him and they just gave a small taste with this very confined tale. The shorter actual story in comparison to doing things you've already done makes this feel like just something extra. The intimate clustered battles were also not very fun, there's a part at a docks that was just too much. The mini-gun enemies could lock on through walls, as could the guided missiles which I felt was too silly.
