The next generation Playstation console is just on the horizon, here are a number of predictions for the launch games. A big part of the release of new console generations are the titles available right there from day one.

A number of them are typically current generation games brought forward, but there are always surprises. With this upcoming gen it’s less likely to have straight up exclusives as opposed to enhanced releases, but it’s fun to speculate what exactly that line-up will be at launch.

Godfall
This seems like a release that makes sense considering the holiday 2020 window set for it and that it was the first title shown for the platform. This is an action RPG from Gearbox, that perhaps could be there right from the console kick-off.
Ghost of Tsushima Playstation 5
Call of Duty: Black Ops 5
There’s also a Call of Duty title that will most certainly be carried forward, and with the biggest rumors pointing towards Treyarch’s release, this is a very likely choice. It’ll be one of the big shooters of the next gen consoles, as the series always is. I would also expect some special marketing partnership with Sony as has been the setup over the current generation.

Gran Turismo Next
This would make sense as there has been a discussion about what sort of specs a next generation title within the series would be aiming for and it would go head to head against Forza Motorsport 8. Definitely would be good to have a car based title as those usually set the bar for visual quality at the start of a generation. No confirmation on this of course, in regards to release or if it’s even actively being worked on.

Assassin’s Creed
Another somewhat easy guess would be seeing a boosted Assassin’s Creed title for the platform. It’s time for another release in the series, and rumors are pointing towards this year being the one for a new entry. Could be Vikings too based on various rumors, exciting.

Sports Games
We will definitely see Madden 21, Fifa 21, NHL 21 (maybe, NHL gets poor support between generations) and NBA 2K21. If we can include Just Dance 2021 here as well, it is a likely choice.

Cross Gen Updated Titles
Rainbow Six Quarantine
Gods & Monsters
Watch Dogs: Legion

Outriders
This could be a launch specific title considering the marketing, despite it also being available on current gen consoles. It’s got a big backing behind it from Square Enix, so we’ll see what happens with it as more details are sure to follow.
Death Stranding Playstation 5
Bluepoint is apparently working on a next generation PS5 title, so that could be an enhanced port or a brand new project. There’s also what Guerrilla Games might be working on which would likely be Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and even less likely for launch is probably God of War 2 from Santa Monica Studio.

I would assume cross-gen titles might be a thing. It’s a question as to whether we’ll have to re-buy games. That of course includes some hits such as The Last of Us: Part 2, Nioh 2 and Ghost of Tsushima which are the main 2020 PS4 headliners. Final Fantasy 7 Remake also would be a logical choice, considering the exclusive release setup and that it’s a title featuring parts to it over a longer development cycle. Additionally, there might be some surprises from third party developers and that could be sequels or a game out of nowhere.

That’s all for now, we eagerly await what’s going to actually be releasing and anticipating of course the full announcement which is likely to be showcased at a special reveal event. Read about the fun mystery about the PS5 below, or check out the hub for additional coverage.
