This is a really charming and lovely sort of adventure game. It’s definitely geared towards a more casual type of experience so this is certainly something that any sort of audience could get into. It’s not really too difficult to play, featuring light bits of combat and some easy going puzzles to explore.

You can bump up the difficulty a bit more if needed, but the base line level was fine to enjoy. Anyways, the game itself is essentially a journey into the world of Alice in Wonderland. A different interpretation of course, and it runs well being in this sort of world. There’s a quick opening bit to establish your character and then you’re thrust right into the action.

It may seem open in terms of figuring out what you’re doing but it does sort of just slide into the right places as it goes on. There are also some collectibles to gather and the odd side mission.

If you’re proficient you can finish the entirety of the game over the course of about three hours so it’s not intensely long but just a good relaxed time. There will be the odd boss battle here or there and some deeper puzzles but again it’s a light easy going time.

Gameplay

The visuals of the game are rather delightful, just popping with color and detail. It’s a really neat voxel aesthetic that absolutely delivers. The combat and movement is straight forward, but it complements the delightful scenery very well. The environment is free for you to explore, but it also does feel linear in design which works well for the style of play here.

There are of course many characters to meet on your journey that match the world they’ve developed, and you can also level up your character in case you didn’t know as apparently some have been missing that. There will be some surprises here or there for you to discover as well.

The Conclusion

Ravenlok is a charming, cute and visually impressive little adventure that welcomes all types of players. It may not have the deepest sense of depth to it, but it was definitely what I needed at the time of playing it so I enjoyed the casual experience.

I think this would be really good for the younger audience in particular, but anyone that wants a calming time will enjoy this. There are segments of combat, puzzle solving and light good hearted adventure.

I really did feel that the visuals shined and hopefully the team continues to use this type of aesthetic down the road as I quite liked what they had going on. Anyways, an enjoyable time with charming music and atmosphere. A nice change up on the whole Alice in Wonderland concept.
