For me Halo 3 was the perfect Halo title and something I sunk hours into. As with the past two titles it brought back some favorites while also presenting new classic into the mix. For all the action and intense play that was Halo 3 multiplayer lets dig into the best of the best.
A perfect map for Big Team Battle, Sandtrap is a massive desert map featuring ancient structures among empty sand fields. It's also great for objective gametypes and of course features the two awesome elephant vehicles of which strange combat revolves around.
The perfect forging map in Halo 3 was brought late into the game in the form of three flat lands. There's a central desert area, the air and of course the underground section. It was great to build whatever you wanted within the world and even the regular map was neatly designed in itself.
A larger map that takes place in doors with two facing bases that's circled by a great driving track. Whether it's the mini battles in the spaces between or some crazy warthog destruction to the side things are always frantic at Rat's Nest.
Another one of the later maps was Orbital which features two layers of combat and perfect objective combat. The corridors are narrow, yet they somehow managed to fit mongeese into the map and grenades are extra hazardous.
This was another weirdly designed map that somehow presents perfectly for one-sided objective matches. The scenario is a classic defend and assault the fortress situation where one team must make the beach climb.
Taking place at a harbour this is yet another later map along with a one-sided objective environment. Water flows on the outside while combat usually takes place with the enclosed middle area while others walk around the outside areas.
With perfect symmetry The Pit is the a perfect slayer or objective map. This bright yellow training facility features so many differing areas of battle from high towers to a narrow middle ground and some more open combative spots as well.
A remake of the amazing Zanzibar, Last Resort opens the popular one-sided objective match with some extra areas and touched up spots. The map shines once more and has always been the most popular of the maps in Halo 3.
What I think may very well be the perfect map in all of Halo is two bases opposite of each across a dry landscape. There's some open areas to the side along with a middle line with rocks scattered on the sides. Regular objective matches are the star of this map along with generic slayer though I've always wondered why snipers were never added to the map.
Despite loving Standoff Guardian is a perfect map taking some ideas and concepts from Lockout to build on them. It's a small map that's perfect for team slayer and even doubles within the narrow walls or the open middle platform. Fight on the lift or sniper from the tower in one of the most mystic maps and well designed of any.
