The next generation Xbox Series X is just on the horizon, here are a number of predictions for the launch games. A big part of the release of new console generations are the titles available right there from day one.

A number of them are typically current generation games brought forward, but there are always surprises. With this upcoming gen it’s less likely to have straight up exclusives as opposed to enhanced releases, but it’s fun to speculate what exactly that line-up will be at launch.

Halo Infinite
This is already confirmed, Halo Infinite will be the defining title for the platform at launch. It’s an easy addition to the listing, and obviously the biggest element of their first party. It should kick of the next generation and likely showcase just what the attitude is for the series going forward.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 5
There’s also a Call of Duty title that’s carried over, and with the biggest rumors pointing towards Treyarch’s release, this is a very likely choice. It’ll be one of the big shooters of the next gen consoles, as the series always is.

Forza Motorsport 8
We’ve been waiting awhile for the next entry in this series, and it’s already been used in the promotional material. A Motorsport release usually accompanies the launch, and it’s a safe bet that this will be a defining racing release for the series. I’m guessing it’ll showcase premium power at 4k 120fps.

Assassin’s Creed
Another somewhat easy guess would be seeing a boosted Assassin’s Creed title for the platform. It’s time for another release in the series, and rumors are pointing towards this year being the one for a new entry.

Sports Games
We will definitely see Madden 21, Fifa 21, NHL 21 (maybe, NHL gets poor support between generations) and NBA 2K21. Can we include Just Dance 2021 here? That will definitely be one.

Peggle 3
I mean, we’ve waited long enough and the second entry was there last time so here’s to hoping.

Cross Gen Updated Titles
Cyberpunk 2077
Rainbow Six Quarantine
Gods & Monsters
Watch Dogs: Legion

Outriders
This could be a launch specific title considering the marketing, despite it also being available on current gen consoles. It’s got a big backing behind it from Square Enix, so we’ll see what happens.
Hellblade 2 Xbox Series X
From these points it’s speculation quite honestly. I feel there will likely be another surprise or two at that launch. There always is. This could be a desired third party sequel such as Dead Rising 5, Ryse 2 or Tomb Raider 4 (timing wise this does make sense). These are guesses, and the first two are unlikely in my opinion. Just giving an idea of what a surprise game might be like at launch.

Maybe one of the rumored first party titles is coming in. Looking at Fable 4 (unlikely for now), Everwild, State of Decay 3 and Age of Empires IV. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 isn’t noted for launch. There’s also the next title from Compulsion Games, whatever side projects Ninja Theory (Project: MARA) is working on and of course the next big release from Obsidian Entertainment (outside of Grounded). I’m also not sure how far along The Initiative’s first game is. Past that, maybe Inxile or Double Fine have some surprises for us.

That’s all for now, we eagerly await what’s going to actually be releasing and anticipating of course the full announcement which is likely to be showcased at E3 2020. Read about the best games line-up from Xbox Series X below, or check out the hub for additional coverage.
