While The Outer Worlds doesn’t necessarily push you directly into combat, the game does feature some boss fights along the way. In order to finish the final level and get your conclusion you’ll have to face off against the RAM machine enemy. You might have talked around this, but if you’re battling this will help you deal with the foe rather simply.
It’s a slower sort of method, and I suppose how long this takes depends on your level or weapon choices for battle. Now, this is a wave based battle where drones will assist the main monstrosity that you’re dealing with. You can watch the video to see the strategy in action, or read about it below.
Details & Highlights
While this machine can provide some hardcore damage, it’s actually rather slow and weak. I chose to use a combination of Parvati (companion) with a hammer slam and regular shots. You don’t need the companion, but her ability does help for a bit to knock it over. So what you’re going to be doing is going for the legs. It’s best to accomplish this by slowing time and picking your shots. Just aim down below the shield and hit those legs a few times, and the enemy will drop down defenseless.
It won’t be able to fight back giving you an open window of opportunity. Fire away, picking those critical areas along the body to do the most damage. Things will however get more complicated, as damage is sent out the drones will come in. They arrive from both sides of the mini square arena place you’re doing this within. I managed to somewhat entirely avoid these by just running circles around the area. Once my slowing ability was available and I was in range of the RAM I would knock it down to get some shots fired in.
This was effective, took minimal effort on my part and I didn’t have to deal with the tiring drones. If you are looking to battle the drones be prepared to waste ammo, and have to handle a pile of them as their numbers continue to grow as the fight continues on. They aren’t difficult, but in numbers can provide lots of damage to you. This isn’t a difficult boss to take on, but it might take you some time.
There are other abilities he has such as jumping, or doing a charge. You could choose to manipulate those as the machine can get stuck or glitched on corners. You’re still having to deal with the drones however, which complicates things. Keep focused, this task shouldn’t be too hard and then the finale is so simplistic to do.
