I recently stopped by my local LEGO store and was excited to find the Tuk Tuk (40469 creator 23min build) that I was unable to order online was available. My daughter noticed the yellow taxi cab (40468 creator 16min build) and decided it was also a must have. Throw in the GWP vintage car (40448 ideas 28min build) received previously and we now have a 3 car comparison.

I’ll start with the Tuk Tuk as it was my first grab and must have to see what all the hype was about. I appreciate the small smooth three wheel system it sits on and the fact it is built suitable for at least a minifig driver if not for seated passengers as minifigure compatibility is always important to me.

I enjoyed the colorful build and the out of the box look of the Indian inspired tuk tuk but wished the backseat was more compatible with the minifigures still I was happy to have a couple ride standing up hanging out of the sides of the backseat.

Next I tackled the taxi cab unfortunately it is not minifig compatible but I think it would look cool driving along my modulars on a lego street and appreciated the advertising on the roof like a real cab. It’s a little boxy looking but still fun and would be great for a smaller child to play with as it seems to be a really durable model. The last car I built was the gwp vintage car that was a LEGO ideas competition winning model.

It’s going to look fabulous in front of my modular diner. I particularly enjoyed some of the interesting parts and vibrant color used in this build and was happy that two minifigures were able to sit comfortably in the car. The retro look was super cool including the side surfboard which I heard was prone to falling off which was not a problem I had. The skate blade used as a hood ornament was an interesting part repurpose.

I also enjoyed the two minifigures included with their retro clothing and sunglasses. My favorite build out of the three was definitely the gwp vintage car followed by the tuk tuk with the taxi being my least favorite because of its square look and lack of minifigure compatibility it was really just an uncomplicated simple build that would be better suited to a younger audience in my opinion. I would definitely buy another vintage car if LEGO offers it as a regular set instead of a GWP only. Check out our general hub for additional block building coverage.
