Before I begin my comparison of 3 LEGO Minecraft sets 21129 (the mushroom island) 21153 (the wool farm) and 21165 (the bee farm) I would like to state that while I have seen some Minecraft builds on the computer I don’t play Minecraft so I have minimal knowledge of the game and have picked three sets based on their general personal appeal.

My least favorite of the three was mushroom island 247 pieces 33 minutes build. I purchased it because I easily recognized the cute mooshroom cows in the set. I found as I was building that I felt very few pieces were being stretched to simply create the biggest land area possible and areas had a lack of purpose and attractiveness.

There’s three kind of separate areas one is a corral for the mooshrooms and a boat dock, a mooshroom tree and plant section and lastly a barren section of just grey blocks that seems unnecessary. It includes one minifigure, creeper a large mooshroom (so cute) and it’s baby.

The wool farm 260 pieces 25 minutes build is my second favorite I picked it because I liked the giant sheep statue that is part of the build. Because there are two alternatives to building the giant sheep (a heart or a parrot) I had a bag of left over blocks that I’ll never use as I think the three colored sheep minifigures included with the set would look strange with the heart or parrot as the main focal point.

The set is compact includes a square tree, fence, garden and water area. Complete with Steve minifigure, lamb and both a red and yellow sheep that you can pretend to have sheared using giant scissors. It’s a very nice looking set with a lot of different levels and lands in a small area and the giant sheep looks great from a distance.

My favorite set is the bee farm 238 pieces 38 minutes build. The cute little bees are what made me want to own this set. There is a very busy set which includes two trees, a beehive, flowers a smoker and even “flying” bees!

I love that there’s a group of four LEGO bees that attach to clear poles which spin on gears to make them appear to be happily flying in the air. Again there are lots of levels to the land in this build and everything contributes to creating a lovely bee habitat. Includes seven bees, one minifigure, bee king figure, sheep, and two honeycomb squares. Lots of playability and a nice looking display set.
