You might wonder what exactly a "Bee Hive" does in Minecraft and it's rather simple. These are special homes for bees, they appear naturally as nests and are called hives when crafted. The Bee Hives can be broken with any tool, but axes are the quickest in doing so. Bee nests will not drop anything unless they’re broken down using something with Silk Touch. You will keep bees within the hive is broken with the Silk Touch, if not bees will come out of the hive and swarm you. You can side a campfire underneath he give to counter this situation.
These are somewhat harder to craft items requiring some planks and honeycombs in order to create them. You can find Bee Nests naturally generating on trees within Flower Forests; Plains and Sunflower Plains biomes. For a fun fact, they will always generate facing the South direction of the world. More details and crafting guide below.
Uses and Other Details:
To essentially summarize, the latest item is very helpful and realistic in nature. The housing of bees comes from nests or hives where three can be in there at a time. The bees will fly into the nesting areas at night, during rain or after they’re done pollinating the local flowers. They come back to their home to work and increase the honey level by one. When the honey level has reach five, the block’s appearance will change and it will be full honey to collect.
Shears can be used on a full hive, this will provide three honeycombs for you to use. If an empty glass bottle is used on a full hive/nest it will fill the entire bottle up and become a honey bottle. Any bees inside their home during harvesting will become aggravated at you. You prevent this and make them docile by placing a campfire beneath the hive. This must be within five blocks featuring no obstruction and it will calm those bees down for a friendly harvesting situation. This is a renewable resource, take care of your buzzing friends and their home!
