Minecraft Norse Mythology Review

The Minecraft Norse Mythology Mash-Up pack brings players a completely revamped way to play the game. This includes custom Norse textures; character skins, UI, Music and a special world to enjoy it in. The custom content aside from the world can be used in any new map players create or existing ones. There's no special settings that need to be changed since you just turn it on and this pack is tied to the Minecraft Store so it features cross-purchase across all devices on the same Xbox Live gamertag. This is a solid effort from the core Mojang team bringing yet another epic pack. They do an amazing job in terms of details and that's clearly present within the 3D skins. You're getting about fifty in this package that range from more traditional characters to some wild ones. There's a great selection in there and I was very impressed by the assortment. This is followed up by some sleek Norse based menus, enlightening music and a wide range of textures.

The texture work was great here as items were fresh, yet easy to tell what they originally were. This sometimes gets lost in translation with mash-up packs and many you can't tell what commonplace items are. The world you get is usually a focal point for players. This one is large in scale providing multiple massive castle structures though it didn't feel as dense as others. It certainly has the scale and lots of depth in quality for the buildings, but they're spread out. You get this mini town and then a few biome exclusive massive structures to move through. The middle area was by far the best, but there was some really cool underworld type places to visit.

The Conclusion

This is definitely a decent effort and the Norse Mythology Mash-Up pack is a fine addition for players that enjoy this type of myth. The work done on the textures is incredible with very detailed character skins being present. Everything has been enhanced with the pack and it's a decent effort. I would have liked more density within the larger world, but the wonders are worth checking out due to their vast scale. You get some great character skins in this pack and the work to general textures captures the essence of the title theme very well. The world left something to be desired, yet overall this is a great additional mash-up release.
