Minecraft Playstation 4 Bedrock Update Guide

The replacement for Minecraft PS4 Edition is here, which is Bedrock. The new edition of the game will allow players to engage in cross-play with other platforms, access Realms and the general store as well. If you already own the game on the Playstation 4 it will get updated to the new version automatically at no cost.

Once you update, there will be instructions within the on-screen patch notes. You will no longer be able to purchase the old version, only being able to use the new one. You can continue to play the old iteration of the game, but it won’t receive any further updates.

This is effective as of December 9, 2019. 4J Studios ran the original version on the console, but now it’s being directly handled by Mojang. You can enjoy many new features, updates and be at parity with the other platforms. You can also optionally use your Microsoft account for cross-content access from other platforms.
