Many have been wanting to see the Playstation 4 version of Minecraft receive the Bedrock update. That is still not a confirmed thing to be happening, despite a renewal on the ESRB site.

Some have been citing this as a confirmation that Minecraft Bedrock PS4 will happen, but that may be incorrect. It could just be an updated rating for the game through a renewal.

That aside, the main limiting factor for this version of the game not getting the “Better Together” update is that Sony won’t allow Xbox Live to run on their consoles. Part of this latest version of the game requires that in order to have the cross-play, cross-purchases and Xbox Achievements. That is essential for what the experience is, and without it there wouldn’t be a point to bringing the version over.

That’s not to say it won’t happen in the future, it’s just not a confirmed release at this point despite some mentioning it is going to be. I also wouldn’t get your hopes up either. For the mean time, the old console version from 4J Games is still available with updates. It just lacks the community store, taking your purchases from platform to platform or enjoying cross-play with others on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, IOS, Android, Windows 10 PC or Virtual Reality.

If this does come out in the future, this will be noted with additional information to say so. For now, it’s best to just wait and pretend this version of the game doesn’t exist. Check out details about the Nether Update for the core game below, or the hub for additional coverage.
