The Playstation 5 DualSense wireless controller has been revealed with a cost of $69.99 USD and $89.99 CAD. This is the upgrade for the DualShock line-up, changing everything you know. This was changed to ” captivate more of your senses as you interact with the virtual worlds in PS5 games”.
It features USB Type-C with a built-in battery. There is Tempest 3D AudioTech for deeper immersion when sound is played. There’s haptic feedback for ”powerful sensations”. It contains adaptive triggers into the L2 and R2 buttons, to feel the draw of an arrow. There are subtle updates to the grip with the hand triggers angles being adjusted.
A main goal for the team was to maintain the strong battery life, while adding new features and still keeping it as light as possible. The share button has been removed, it’s now called the “create button” with more details to be announced in that regard towards release.
It also has a built-in microphone to chat without the need of a headset, with a feature of microphone shut-off built in when you’re not chatting. The designed is two toned color wise, with a bigger touchpad on the front. The light bar is now right in the front, on the sides of the touchpad.
There are no back buttons in regards to comparing it to the lately added DualShock extra add-on. This went through several concepts and hundreds of mock-ups over time. They wanted to achieve comfort, great ergonomics and a design that’s aesthetically pleasing. This controller is just now being shipped to developers to fine tune their games for it.
