If you were an owner of the original Xbox Elite Controller you’re probably aware of the peeling grips. This was apparently something that the design team hadn’t anticipated. Noting this during a discussion while checking out the second series controller at E3 2019, that this was a sort of manufacturing thing that they never could have predicted. To go from what was directly said part of that was; ”the peeling was not a manufacturing aspect we could have predicted”. I had a fairly lengthy discussion as I was curious about the plastic piece connecting the bumpers and they weren’t sure if that had been adjusted as well.
This was during my hands-on time with the new controller model where I was touching the various pieces and getting a discussion guide while interacting with everything there. It was neat to learn, and I suppose something that could have been easy to miss. In my experience this didn’t happen until a year of use, though others have faced this problem in less time. Whatever the case, this was a key aspect to fix when they were designing the second series options as it featured a new design. You can read our preview of that controller below, or check out the E3 hub for additional coverage of the event.
