ZHIYUN Smooth 4 CES 2019 Preview

The ZHIYUN Smooth 4 is a 3-axis smartphone stabilizer which basically is focused on improving your recording skills when using a phone. I immediately went to it on the table of stabilizers which were mostly meant for standard cameras. This was at a special event while I was attending CES 2019.

I'm more into the regular recording due to the nature of the work I do. This is a 547g device that can run for twelve hours of operation time when charged. It's run through the ZHIYUN App on IOS and Google Play that opens up a number of features to assist with your work. It's an easy way to use the controls to their full advantage.

There are also buttons directly on the holder which can help limit how much you need to touch your phone. The hot key buttons are certainly helpful and definitely beneficial. The scrolling dial allows for a focus pull and for zooming in smoothly. You can also enable PhoneGo mode for instant scene transformation without delay.

There's also obviously object tracking so that it'll auto-focus on a particular thing that's moving. Basically to generally smooth out your footage and remove the shake that's even more present during higher fps shoots. This auto-detection worked quite well and the device in general was certainly an impressive offering.
