In Need for Speed Heat the cops roam the open world of Palm City both during the day and the night. This is a constant element of play, they’re always looking for the illegal racers driving out there. There’s a distinct style between how each of these two cop types come out to play, just like with the split in the game when it comes to either part of a general day. Get full details below on this.
Details & Highlights
Daytime cops
-They play by the rules and will use established, standard tactics to catch speeders and reckless drivers. They will be fining you a moderate amount of Bank if you’re caught.
Night time cops
-They are a totally different story. They use harsher tactics and have more aggressive driving styles. Get busted (or wreck your car) at night, and you lose all Heat you’ve gained from your racing. To boot, you’ll have to pay heavy Bank fines if you’re busted in the process.
If you bump into a cop car during the day or night you’ll instantly trigger a chase, making Heat kick in. The other way of getting cops on your tail is by driving in illicit ways. The Heat can reach five levels, and the higher it goes, the harder cops will become. They’ll drive faster and in more aggressive ways as the battle wages on.
Night time cops will also further up the stakes for chases when your Heat goes up, since they’ll start using roadblocks, spike strips, rhinos, helicopters and kill switches that deactivate your car for a brief moment. Stay fast in order to not be caught. It’s worth nothing that once you’re slowed down a progress bar will let you know how long you have before you’re caught. Get out of there as fast as possible!
